Pollen and allergies — Beli Manastir
Beli Manastir is the center of Baranja, in the far north-east of Croatia, in the plains between the Drava and Danube. This is a distinctly agricultural region with extensive fields, where ragweed in late summer reaches some of the highest concentrations in the country.
Main allergens and season
- Spring (March–May): alder and willow along the rivers, birch and hornbeam from windrows and forests.
- Late spring and summer (May–July): grasses from Baranja meadows and field margins.
- Late summer and autumn (August–September): ragweed — in Baranja very strong and widespread, often the dominant autumn allergen.
