Pollen and allergies — Bjelovar

Bjelovar lies at the foot of Bilogora, in an area where fields, meadows and deciduous forests interweave. The agricultural character of the surroundings means a long and pronounced grass season, and in late summer a strong surge of ragweed.

Main allergens and season

  • Spring (March–May): birch, hornbeam and oak from Bilogora forests and windrows.
  • Late spring and summer (May–July): grasses from meadows and pastures — for most allergy sufferers the most demanding part of the year.
  • Late summer (August–September): ragweed along field roads, fields and abandoned parcels, typical for continental Croatia.

Dry and windy weather raises pollen concentration, while rain temporarily lowers it — that's why we link the risk assessment to current weather.
