Pollen and allergies — Sveta Nedelja
Sveta Nedelja is located west of Zagreb, at the transition toward the Samobor region, and shares the continental pollen profile of the Zagreb area, but with more open, agricultural, and grassy areas on the edges of the settlement.
Main allergens and season
- Spring (March–May): woody allergens — birch, alder, and hornbeam — from the surrounding forests and slopes.
- Late spring and summer (May–July): grasses from meadows, lawns, and neglected parcels; this is the most difficult period of the season for most allergy sufferers.
- Late summer (August–September): ragweed along roads, arable land, and abandoned surfaces.
Dry and windy days raise pollen concentration, while rain lowers it temporarily — so risk assessment is calculated from both pollen and current weather together.
