Naples faces the gulf and is surrounded by hills, dense development and Mediterranean vegetation. Sea breezes, local winds and terrain can create differences between the coast and inland areas, so the page should be used as guidance for the urban area.
Periods and allergens to watch
- Winter and spring: alder and other trees can start early after mild periods.
- Late spring: grasses and plants of open ground become more relevant.
- Spring to summer: olive is an allergen to consider in Campania’s landscape, without treating botanical context as a local measurement.
- Summer and late summer: mugwort and ragweed can occur along roads, neglected land and construction sites.
