Pollen forecast Pančevo

Pančevo is in southern Banat, where the Tamiš meets the Danube, just outside Belgrade. Arable land, the wetlands along the Danube and Tamiš, and a large industrial zone alternate around the city, and to the south-east lies Deliblato Sands, the largest sand area in Europe, rich in grassland and weed habitat. For allergy sufferers Pančevo is an example of a city where high pollen and poorer air quality often coincide, so the risk score in the summer months can run higher than the pollen alone would suggest.

• Late winter and early spring (February–March): alder in the floodplain forests along the Tamiš and the Danube.
• Spring (April–May): birch in the residential districts and along streets, plus ash from the floodplain forests.
• Late spring and summer (May–July): grasses from the Banat plain, the embankments, and the grasslands of Deliblato Sands.
• Late summer (August–September): ragweed at full strength — southern Banat, along with Bačka, is the most heavily affected part of Serbia; mugwort leads the way from July and is especially dense along the roads and around the industrial zone.
