Pollen forecast Zrenjanin

Zrenjanin is in central Banat on the Begej, in a plain defined by canals, wetlands, and large arable fields. Not far from the city lies Carska Bara, one of Serbia's most important marshland habitats, with floodplain forests of willow, poplar, alder, and ash. That combination gives Zrenjanin a pronounced early season along the water and a heavy late-summer season on the farmland.

Main allergens and season

• Late winter and early spring (February–March): alder along the Begej and the Tisa and in the wetlands around Carska Bara.
• Spring (April–May): ash from the floodplain forests and birch from the city's streets and parks; poplar sheds its fluff at the same time, which is not an allergen in itself but carries other particles and irritates the eyes and airways mechanically.
• Late spring and summer (May–July): grasses from the pastures, embankments, and canal banks of the Banat plain.
• Late summer (August–September): ragweed on stubble fields and neglected plots, at concentrations typical of Banat — among the highest in the country; mugwort leads the way from July.
