Pollen and allergies — Lendava
Lendava lies in Prekmurje, in the far northeastern tip of Slovenia, in a plain with Pannonian climate, wet lowland meadows, and extensive arable land. The landscape is very similar to neighboring Slavonian Posavina — which includes ragweed, which is more pronounced here than in any other part of Slovenia.
Main allergens and season
- Late winter and spring (February–May): alder along watercourses, hazel and birch from surrounding lowland forests.
- Late spring and summer (May–July): grasses from the extensive Prekmurje meadows — one of the main summer allergens in the region.
- Late summer and autumn (August–September): ragweed, which in the wet lowland along rivers, roads, and cultivated surfaces flourishes and often makes the hardest part of the season.
