Pollen and allergies — Đakovo
Đakovo lies in central Slavonia, in a region known for agriculture and horse-breeding, surrounded by fields, meadows and pastures. The open, cultivated landscape means a long grass season and a strong surge of ragweed in late summer.
Main allergens and season
- Spring (March–May): birch, ash, hornbeam and oak from surrounding forests and windrows — ash is common in Slavonian lowland forests.
- Late spring and summer (May–July): grasses from meadows and pastures — the main burden of the season.
- Late summer and autumn (August–September): ragweed is in Slavonia distinctly strong and widespread, along fields and field roads.
Weather significantly changes pollen exposure: wind disperses it, rain washes it away — that's why we calculate risk assessment from pollen and current weather.
