Kielce is the capital of Świętokrzyskie Province, situated at the foot of the Holy Cross Mountains – the oldest mountains in Poland. The surrounding fir and beech forests, along with numerous parks and tree-lined streets, create a green setting year-round. Its location on the Kielce Upland means the pollen season can unfold differently here than on the lowlands, and spring frosts are common, potentially delaying the start of tree flowering.

- March–April: hazel and alder, followed by birch in wooded areas.
- April–May: birch, oak, and ash.
- May–July: grasses on meadows, clearings, and verges.
- August–September: mugwort and ragweed on vacant plots and roadsides.
